Weeknote #9 [W25.48] - Malcolm the cat leaves, and registering for IFFK
Published on Dec 2, 2025 • 2 min read
This is going to be a shorter note than usual because I spent most of the week recovering from cold.
Malcolm leaves

Malcolm. the cat, was staying with me for the last 4 months because his original family had moved to a smaller apartment which didn’t have space for him.
He left last week on Saturday, for a new place, because I’ll be traveling to Trivandrum later this month for IFFK.
Maybe he’ll be back again after I’m back from the trip. But that’ll depends on how he adjusts to his new place. It wouldn’t be nice to keep moving him around every other week, especially if adjusts well to the new place.
I have never had a pet before, so it’ll be interesting to see how the separation affects me. I usually get over humans pretty quickly (as a matter of habit from childhood), let’s see how it goes with cats.
IFFK as an yearly ritual
I registered for the International Film Festival for Kerala (IFFK), happening between 12th-19th December. I booked a bus as well as the stay for a week (which is something that always makes me anxious).
This is the third time I’ll be attending IFFK, and at this point it is becoming sort of an yearly ritual. I first went there in 2023, had an amazing time, and then went back last year too.
I usually end up spending a couple of days at a backpackers’ hostel in Varkala after the festival, which tends to be even more fun. But I think I may have to skip that this time. But I haven’t booked a return ticket as yet.
PS: CInema Next Door
The first Cinema Next Door screening is today, and we’re already sold out — something which has never happened in 1.5 years of screening for TPCC at Underline Center. We’re off to a seemingly decent start.
